POP-UP EASTER CARD MAKING WORKSHOP
WHAT'S ON PROGRAMME / CHARLESTON TRUST APRIL 2014 / 20 PARTICIPANTS (AGED 4 - 12 YEARS) This introductory pop-up card making workshop took place in The Garage and Pottery at Charleston Trust in Firle and was part of Charleston's What's On Programme of events.
20 Participants were shown various pop-up techniques used in several example books, before being instructed on how to construct a pop-up card using a simple paper hinge I had developed. Pop-up cards with up to four layers could be constructed without the use of scissors. Exploring dioramas and using the step fold pop-up allowed participants to build up wonderfully complex 3D collages within a scallop-edged card format. Participants were introduced to all the tools and materials used so they could each create their own cards at home. |

POP-UP DIORAMA MAKING WORKSHOP
YOUNG BOHEMIANS / CHARLESTON TRUST AUGUST 2014 / 12 PARTICIPANTS The summers at Charleston were all about experimenting and exploring. The ‘Young Bohemians’ Mini Summer School was a fun opportunity for young people aged 8 to 12 to experience a typically ‘Charleston’ summer in a beautiful and inspirational setting. Their imaginations ran riot with two days of varied, hands-on arts activities, curated by our Associate Artist Sophie Coryndon. Drawing on the wealth and variety of talented and creative artists in our area the programme gave young people a rich and varied programme of events and tutors and included opportunities to enjoy Charleston's stunning Downland location.
Under guidance from Lee Shearman participants were shown how to assemble a large format pop up diorama. |
